CASE

LEAN PRODUCTION AND ANIMATED PREVIS

When filming, time is always running out. This time we had extra preasure beacuse we had to work with the clients' employees, who couldn’t work overtime, and a budget that only allowed one day of shooting. On top of that, we had a live horse on set and a tricky plot twist. So, how did we handle all these challenges?

We needed a clear plan, and that’s where previsualization helped.
By creating a previs, we could look at the idea in 3D at the Pre-Production Meeting (PPM) and evaluate if this was going to work and what shots we needed.

Pre Production Previs VS Final rigg on set

Instead of using a traditional storyboard, I made a 3D previsualization to help with planning and to get approval at the Pre-Production Meeting (PPM).

We knew the story would have a surprise twist in the middle and we had to ask ourselves, how much time do we have for each part of the story? How many clips do we need? How can we make the story interesting? These are the questions I thought about, and that's why I made the previsualization. To have a clear plan and help get everything done on time.

Final 3D Previs:
OBS! Other shots used in this 3D previsualization were included merely to symbolically fill out space that didn't need to be animated,
and were not produced by me in any way.
